Lust for Life

Got a new/old CD by Iggy Pop the other day at the used bookstore. I'd forgotten how much I love his music; I haven't listened to him in a while. The album's called "Skull Ring", it's from 2003, and it's like he never aged at all. Iggy's the Grandfather of Punk, man, he's been around forever. I don't think he'll ever die. He'll just slowly...run...out of...steam.

Like, old punks never die, they just wrinkle away?

I don't know, but Iggy's about 63 or so, and he's still out there, thrashing himself around on stages everywhere. He can outdo Henry Rollins, as admitted by Henry himself. Yeah, he may not look the best, but the music's what counts here. It hasn't dimmed in intensity, or passion, or shock value. Just now, it has parental warning labels on it.

Let me leave you with one of my faves from "Skull Ring"; maybe it'll inspire you to rediscover, or discover, the Igster for yourself. Keep rockin.

I am not certain if you go to Mayos blog anymore but if you do I wish to apologize for the horrible words written to you by people who believe I am you. I have tried to bring some level of peace to the blog and have underestimated the sheer amount of hatred from those who continue the attacks.

You were dragged into it unfairly so please accept my apologies.
